ROSE RINGED PARAKEET...!!

I was busy working on my computer... a shrill note of this Parakeet in my garden  almost shook me out of my focus on what i was doing...One look outside I saw this lovely fellow hopping branches in search of this particular seed. He plucked the seed, held it by beak...He slowly ripped it open to eat the seeds inside...It was nice to watch this in action ...& to photograph.

The pretty bird loved by one and all & probably first bird to be taught as an alphabet 'P'. This image was taken at Bharathpur, Rajastan. Its a Rose ringed Parakeet. Very noisy and talkative. Their shades of green is mesmerizing...

ROSE RINGED PARAKEET....YALA, SRILANKA....!!

Rose ringed Parakeet...Common species to the Sub-continent. Very pretty bird and noisy. They are very sociable and family oriented. Often seen as pairs or either of them guarding the nest and rearing the young ones.

This bird is the favorite for all ages of Mankind...and has been domesticated extensively...In wild they are simply superb to look at.
